Ford’s 1-litre EcoBoost is popular… In Europe!
If Ford’s smallest engine offered is more or less popular among buyers here, things are quite different on the other side of the Atlantic: over there, it’s the best-selling gasoline engine!
Having won the Engine of The Year award for the third time in 2014, the 1-litre EcoBoost already comes with a solid reputation. Since the regulations on engine size are not the same in Europe, the little mill can help drivers save money not only on gas, but also on taxes and registration. Ford also offers this turbocharged powerplant in a wide variety of cars, like the Fiesta, B-Max, Focus, EcoSport, C-MAX, Grand C-MAX, Tourneo Connect, Grand Tourneo Connect and Transit Courier. It will also be available in the upcoming Mondeo.

If we look more closely at vehicles we know here, things get interesting: 1 in 3 Focus models is bought with this engine, and 30% of all Fiesta buyers select this option.
Since January 2014, 120,000 vehicles powered by the 1-litre EcoBoost have been sold. This means that for every 5 Fords sold in Europe, one of them came with the popular little engine.
This goes to show that your success is not necessarily tied to the size of your displacement!
