883,000 Hyundai Sonatas Recalled
There have been fewer and fewer recalls in the last few weeks. Does that mean that the manufacturers have finally found a way to prevent their vehicles from developing problems? Apparently not, since Hyundai announced to the NHTSA that they have to recall almost a million Sonatas produced between 2011 and 2014.
On these vehicles, it would seems that a link between the transmission cable and the transmission itself can break. If that happens, the gear chosen by the lever would not be the one actually selected inside the transmission. For example, by placing the selector in Neutral, the car could actually be in Reverse... Even worse, some owners report that when they stopped their Sonatas and placed them in Park, the car actually started rolling downhill, since the gear was not properly engaged! This can cause damage to your car, injure people or even cause an accident.

Hyundai will contact affected owners soon, inspect their vehicles, and change the faulty parts if needed. In the meantime, if you own one of these Sonatas, make sure to engage the parking brake before exiting your vehicle.
