TomTom Announces World's Most Congested Cities
If you are reading this from your office, chances are you were stuck in traffic this morning to get there. You think your city is some kind of automotive hell, and that your morning commute is one of the worst in the world? Think again. Each year, GPS manufacturer TomTom compiles data from every city on the planet, and they just announced the world's worst places to be if you don't like gridlocks.
- Moscow, Russia: 74%
- Istanbul, Turkey: 62%
- Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: 55%
- Mexico City, Mexico: 54%
- São Paulo, Brazil: 46%
- Palermo, Italy: 39%
- Warsaw, Poland: 39%
- Rome, Italy: 37%
- Los Angeles, USA: 36%
- Dublin, Ireland: 35%
The percentage right next to each city is another interesting number: it's the congestion percentage, which is the augmentation of time to get to your destination in traffic versus when circulation is fluid.
For example, a 60 minutes drive on paper in Moscow could take 76 minutes more, due to the city incessant traffic.
And we are always whining about Montreal...
