2015 BMW X6 Unveiled

Regardless of whether you like it or not, the BMW X6 is a commercial success. With more than 250,000 units sold worldwide, The Sport Activity Coupe quickly earned a following among people who wished for a vehicle with the height of an SUV with the looks of a sport sedan.

The current model was a little dated though, since its first iteration came out in 2008. It was logical to expect a makeover, because the X6 shares its platform (and about 90% of its components) with the X5, which was completely redone for 2015.

The 2015 BMW X6 has just been unveiled online, prior to its official launch. The first thing we see when we look at it is just how similar it is compared to its younger brother, the X4. While the X6 is bigger, the front grille and proportions are eerily similar. The new X6 is not revolutionary, but it keeps the style that made it so popular, while being more in line with the rest of BMW's products.

The 2015 model will come with more standard equipment. For example: bi-xenon headlights, 19 inch wheels, dual-zone climate control and the 8-speed Steptronic gearbox are now included, whatever version you choose.

Two engines are offered for now. The first one is the trusty N55 3 liter inline-six producing 300hp and 300 lb-ft. of torque. It allows the X6 to offer a compromise between fuel economy and performance, with 0-100 km/h taken care of in 6 seconds flat. The other engine available in the xDrive 50 is a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 that pumps out 445hp and an astonishing 480 lb-ft. of torque. This puts the X6 in another sphere of performance, boosting its way to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. To put things in perspective, this is faster than a Porsche 911 Carrera!

More information, like price, shipping dates and fuel economy, will be available closer to launch.
