Quebec Launches an App to Help Reduce Traffic
The mayors of Quebec and Levis have launched, in collaboration with CAA-Quebec, a new smartphone app named Mon Trajet.
Offered free of charge for iPod and Android devices, the app will collect data on your daily commute. It uses the GPS in your device to calculate your average speed, the distance travelled and the choice of itinerary. Data will be collected from April 24 to May 15.
Following that, researchers from the Université Laval will crunch all the numbers, and then present us with a comprehensive picture of the traffic circulation in Quebec/Levis. This will help the municipalities focus on the worst problems.
At least 2000 people must use the app for the data collected to be judged valid.
