Cadillac ELR: 2014 Green Car of the Year
The 2014 Cadillac ELR was awarded the Green Car of the Year at the Washington Auto Show.
The well-deserved award for innovation provided by its on-demand charging system was given by the Green Car Journal. It’s an advanced technology that allows the driver to use the paddle shifters to temporarily generate energy for storage in the battery pack.
The T-shaped lithium ion battery pack is housed along the central axis between front and rear wheels for a better weight distribution. A 1.4-litre gasoline engine serves to extend battery life.
This new system - with the inclusion of regenerative braking - enables the car to deliver a range of 540 km.
Trendy and Safe
The Cadillac ELR is a stylish coupe which incorporates a high-end CUE multimedia and infotainment system along with navigation.
The luxurious interior comes with hand-stitched leather, wood grain trim and chrome accents.
On the safety side, there is a lane departure warning system, collision avoidance warning and the vibrating seat collision alert system.
