2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid
The new XV Crosstrek is based off the Impreza and aims to be a more rugged, beefed up version of the sedan. Introduced for the 2013 model year, it featured bold styling and adequate off-road capability. The vehicle has enjoyed success at dealerships accross North America with around 50,000 units being sold per year. For 2014, the XV crosstrek is now available as a hybrid – Subaru’s first foray into that market.
Under the hood we find a 2.0-litre motor producing 148 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque combined with an electric motor which adds 13.4 hp and 48 lb-ft for a combined total of 160 hp and 163 lb-ft of torque. The system is mated to a CVT (continuously variable transmission) gearbox.

The same 22 centimetres of ground clearance and symmetrical all-wheel drive are carried over from the standard Crosstrek so there is no loss of functionality in that regard.
Fuel consumption is only marginally better in the city (8.11L/100 km or 29 MPG) and unchanged on the highway at 33 MPG and 7.13 L/100 km.
The 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid starts at $29,995 before freight & PDI.
