Volkswagen Golf R With 290 Horsepower Coming to North America
The powerful Volkswagen Golf R destined for North American markets will be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Like previous models, it has a very aggressive style that bluntly announces its status as a small, four-wheeled rocket.

For North America, the future Volkswagen Golf R will only be available in a three door version.
Increasingly More Powerful
The four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbo engine found under the hood of the current Volkswagen Golf R produces 256 horsepower and the next car will generate at least 290 horsepower. It will be possible to opt for a six-speed manual gearbox or a dual-clutch DSG transmission.
The 2016 Golf R will go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds and have 4MOTION all-wheel drive.
Scheduled to arrive in spring 2015, it will be listed as a 2016 model.
