Infiniti Planning a High Performance Sport Coupe

When Infiniti unveiled its concept Emerg-e hybrid powertrain in 2012 in Geneva, we saw the Japanese automaker potentially face off with the Porsche 918 Spyder on his own turf.

Even the senior management at Infiniti seemed to navigate the wave of speculation, even confirming its intention to develop this concept into a production model.

Last year, we were brought back to Earth after their announcement that the concept Emerg-e would remain a laboratory mule for the development of new models, nothing more.

Today we learned that the brand is seriously considering developing a high-performance sports coupe, but on a lesser scale than the Emerg-e, allowing them to offer a product just as effective and certainly less expensive.

Coincidentally, this is a decision which follows that of Toyota, which recently announced the return of the Supra model.

This high performance Infiniti would be powered by a hybrid engine.

We’ll have to be very patient because the new model will likely not appear until 2017.
