Porsche Will Offer Full Hybrid Lineup

Porsche will be expanding its lineup of hybrid vehicles in the near future to include every model sitting in the showroom.  Currently, it's possible to buy battery-assisted versions of the Porsche Cayenne SUV and the 2014 Porsche Panamera sedan, but eventually the Porsche 911, the Porsche Cayman, and the Porsche Boxster will all feature a hybrid model.

The Panamera S E-Hybrid provides 416 horsepower and 435 lb-ft of torque, and it can also cruise for more than 35 kilometres in EV mode.  In theory, one can expect similar performance from upcoming Porsche hybrids, as the German automaker is more interested in the potential for an electric motor to add speed rather than maximize fuel savings.  Nowhere is this better exemplified than in the Porsche 918 supercar, which will offer just under 900 horsepower from its gasoline / electric drivetrain.

The hybrid technology used by Porsche - which is developed in conjunction with Volkswagen - also has the potential to spread to Bentley and Audi models, according to Motor Authority.
