2014 Land Rover Range Rover Gains Supercharged V6
The 2014 Land Rover Range Rover is making a major change under the hood, where it loses its 375 horsepower, 5.0-litre V8 engine in favour of a new supercharged V6. The decision to move from eight-cylinder to six-cylinder power has to do primarily with fuel mileage according to the Land Rover engineering team, which has also recently reduced the mass of the SUV through the extensive use of lightweight materials.
Just how much more efficient is the 3.0-litre, 340 horsepower V6 that debut with the base model of the Land Rover Range Rover? Current estimates hover at 14.7 l/100 km for city driving and 10.69 l/100 km on the highway, which represents a reduction of just over 10 percent in terms of the amount of fuel consumed by the vehicle. The V6 is currently available with the Jaguar XF and Jaguar XJ, and in the Range Rover it doesn’t significantly impact acceleration, which stays in the seven second range when sprinting to 100 km/h.

What else is new with the 2014 Land Rover Range Rover? The vehicle's supercharged V8 model (which comes with 510 horsepower) will feature an automatic start/stop system that is designed to do what it can to reduce the amount of gasoline wasted while idling, and pricing has changed for options such as adaptive cruise control and the vehicle's towing package. The Signature edition of the vehicle also now lends its LED lighting to all models of the Range Rover.
