2014 Ford Fiesta Unveiled Ahead of Schedule
Details concerning the 2014 Ford Fiesta have been released prior to its formal introduction later this month. Canadians will be able to get behind the wheel of a next-generation Ford Fiesta - but only about a year after the vehicle has already made its mark on Europe. Not much of substance has changed about the mid-cycle subcompact car, but those familiar with the automobile will notice tweaks that have been made to its grille, the addition of a hood bulge, and the presence of LED running lights in order to give the vehicle a more muscular and high end appearance.
On top of moving closer to Ford's global design language, the 2014 Ford Fiesta comes with a more sophisticated version of the Ford SYNC vehicle interface, as well as a Europe-only 1.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. Buyers across the Atlantic will also have access to a two-door hatchback, on top of the sedan and four-door hatchback editions of the car that are found in Canada.
Ford has struggled to find mass acceptance for the Fiesta in North America, with the vehicle turning in lackluster sales numbers since it was initially introduced as a 2013 model. This is in contrast to the robust reception given to the Ford Focus compact, a vehicle which is currently challenging for the world lead in vehicles moved. The addition of the Fiesta ST to the automaker's future plans could help encourage the tuning crowd to spark a renewed interest in the affordable car, as this vehicle's 180 horsepower (on the European market) would no doubt provide enough oomph to place the Fiesta in the same conversation as the Fiat 500 Abarth.
