Nissan To Produce Electric Van

When New York opted to use the upcoming Nissan NV200 van as their new taxi of choice, their vote of confidence in the uniquely styled vehicle did wonders to convince the public of its practicality. After all, hundreds of cabbies can't be wrong. So how do you make an already ridiculously practical vehicle even more practical? Get rid of the engine. 

And replace it with an electric motor. 

Which brings us to this: the e-NV200. Slated to begin production next year at the same Spanish plant responsible for the conventionally-powered NV200's production, the e-NV200 marries the ultra-useful and space-conscious design of the NV200 with the ultra-efficient and fossil-fuel-conscious drivetrain of the Leaf. Sure to be popular with those that need a practical vehicle with low operating costs, the only potential fly in the ointment may be the limited range of the Leaf's battery pack. However, having committed no small amount of funds to this vehicle's design and production, one can't help but  wonder if Nissan doesn't have a little something extra planned...
