Akio Toyoda lists favourite cars... that aren't Toyotas!
Although plenty of press reports would have you believe otherwise, automotive executives are far from cutthroat. Sure, they've often got a bit of a bias one way or another, but they can always appreciate a good design, even if it's come from one of their competitors.
However, what designs automotive executives find attractive is usually quite interesting, as a result of their somewhat unique perspective. So, when Toyota president Akio Toyoda offered up a list of his favourite non-Toyota's at a meeting of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, people listened. Citing one vehicle from each of the five manufacturers present at the meeting, Akio gave no further explanations for his choices beyond that he found each to be quite "memorable." So without further ado, the vehicles Akio Toyoda approved of are: the Honda NSX, Isuzu Bellett, Mazda Cosmo, Mitsubishi Montero, and Nissan Skyline.
