New Shelby to feature unique launch control
Although the virtues of a launch control system are far from lost on us at The Car Guide, there is a certain and undeniable stigma attached to them. Due in large part to the various and well-publicised issues with some of these systems, they've been maligned as too complex by some practically-minded types, while purists often credit them as removing the driver from the equation during a maneuver that's become a practiced art in some circles.
So, what do you think these folks will say when they learn that the 2013 Shelby GT500 will boast the complex and impressive launch control system ever conceived? With what appears to be a few different modes available, the upcoming super-Mustang will allow users to change the launch rpms between 3,000 and 4,500 rpm, while simultaneously allowing changes to the stability control and traction control to vary the launch control system's intrusion. Done with the aim of allowing drivers to tailor their launch control setup to their particular tastes, environment, and conditions, it's a bracket racer's dream... but one can't help but wonder what Carroll would have to say about it.
