BMW returns to DTM after 20 year hiatus
Twenty years is a long time. In motorsports, it's an eternity that represents countless innovations, advancements, and careers. And it's precisely how long BMW has remained out of their native German DTM series.
But, this season, they're going to be back at it with one bad-ass looking Bimmer. Fully engulfed in some serious M-sport livery and sporting more wings and aerodynamic pieces than a US aircraft carrier could lay claim to, the team has fielded a pair of cars to do battle against the Mercedes C63 AMGs and Audi A5s that comprise the rest of the field. And there's a Canadian connection too: incredibly successful Quebecer Bruno Spengler, who used to pilot Mercedes' factory-backed DTM effort, drives the ominous flat-black BMW Bank #7 BMW M3 DTM.
