Shelby GT500 to Hit 200 MPH

It's hard to believe that anything shaped as squarely as a Mustang could ever reach 200 miles per hour (or 322 kph, for us Canucks) safely, but yet again Ford's greatest sports coupe proves that there's little it can't do... it, and the new 650 horsepower engine under its hood.

Looking somewhat similar to last years' car, albeit with slightly different and downright gorgeous wheels, but possesses a tweaked version of the 5.8 litre supercharged V8 that puts out an astounding 650 horsepower and 600 pound feet of torque. An undeniable shot across the still unavailable Camaro ZL1, the new Shelby promises stratospheric acceleration from what Ford is rightfully calling the most powerful production V8 in the world. As if that wasn't enough, the car can be had with a Performance Pack that includes electronically adjustable Bilstein dampers and a Torsen limited slip differential, while the Track Pack compliments all the above with the addition of a trio of coolers to keep the transmission, rear differential, and engine oil from getting to hot on those rigorous lap days.
