Ford Killing of E-Series Van; Ushering in Transit
by Dan Fritter
Although the Ford E-Series van may never have garnered the respect and recognition of its similarly practical sibling, the F-series pickup, there's many a plumber, electrician, and contractor that would lament the big van's passing... unless it was replaced with the full-size Ford Transit.
As the big brother to the already-available Transit Connect, the full size Ford Transit would make a more that worthy successor to the aging E-Series platform, with more interior capacity, a better layout, and lower running costs. That being said, and car buffs being the sentimental lot we are, it will still be a sad day when the last E-Series comes off the production line after five decades of hard work.
