Automatic Transmission Will Be Available in Camaro ZL1

Following the ongoing trend of high-performance automobiles outfitted with automatic gearboxes, it has come out that Chevy’s fire-breathing Camaro ZL1 will be made available for purchase with an optional slushbox.

For those less inclined to watch an automatic gearbox suck half the fun out of driving their range-topping musclecar, the bigger news will be the inclusion of the Corvette ZR1’s Performance Traction Management system, which itself bundles things like GM’s active handling and selective ride systems with traction control and launch control. But the biggest news of all? That apparently the powerplant, lifted from the CTS-V, will be boosted slightly to reward Camaro ZL1 owners with even more power than 550 horsepower the engine makes in Caddy trim.
